Visit to Abakash, Uttarpara, Hooghly - Abakash, a ladies voluntary social welfare organization at Uttarpara, in Hooghly District, was established in 1981 with an objective to serve the distressed and physically challenged people of the society. Apart from several welfare activities, Abakash runs the old age home Sraddhanjali, built in memory of the late Asman Tara Debi, for the aged ladies. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
To get associated with Abakash, and to be a part of the commendable services of Abakash, the Let us join team visited Abakash on February 28, 2019. As a token of support the Let us join team presented seventeen (17) number of "bed-sheets" and some refreshments to the residents of Sraddhanjali.

Donation of dress for the children of Pranab Kanya Sangha - On April 14, 2018, Saturday, we donated dress for the twelve children residing at Pranab Kanya Sangha, BB 65, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064. Click here to see a picture of a child of Pranab Kanya Sangha holding the new dress. 
 
Donation for Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matri Bhavan hospital renovation - Matri Bhavan Hospital, working with a vision "Service to Man is Service to God", offers inpatient and outpatient services for women and children. The hospital is under going renovation. The management of Matri Bhavan is approaching their well-wishers to help them to raise fund to meet the expenses of the renovation work. Let us join team decided to be associated with Matri Bhavan hospital by being involved through participation with them. As a token of our support we have donated Rs 10,000 for the on-going hospital renovation and development activities.
 
 
Getting invloved through participation with Pranab Kanya Sangha - On October 13, 2017, Friday, we donated twelve Mats or Grass-Madurs to Pranab Kanya Sangha for the children residing there, at BB 65, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064.
 
 
About Pranab Kanya Sangha - Pranab Kanya Sangha is a Hindu charitable non-governmental organisation, which was founded in the year 1917 by Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanandaji Maharaj, the founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangha.
 
Pranab Kanya Sangha is sanctified and cherished by the blessings of founder  Acharya Swami Pranabanandaji Maharaj.  It is all women organization looking after the welfare of children, orphans and destitute women of the society. Here we deal with social welfare activities. Such social welfare activities include spreading education, disaster relief, vocational training, uplifting of tribal and providing healthcare facilities.
 
At Pranab Kanya Sangha's Salt Lake Branch, at BB 65, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064, there are twelve children. Each of them has different dream and aspirations in life. We wish to empower the girls so that they can have a brighter future and are self-independent.

Handing over of tables and black-boards to Dum Dum Prayas - Dum Dum Prayas Parents Association of 23/2/8 K.B.Sarani, Mall Road, Dum Dum, Kolkata 700028, is working for the mentally challenged children. To fulfill our goal to serve the people and to work for the people, we decided to donate two tables and writing-board to Dum Dum Prayas which will be used for painting lessons of the children. The handing over event took place on Saturday 22, 2017, at 4:00 PM at the Prayas's venue, and was attended by our members and the management people of Prayas.

A session with a gynaecologist - after receiving several requests we decided to organise a session with a gynaecologist for the second time on April 1, 2017, Saturday, at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064. Our main aim remained unchanged i.e. "to spread awareness about the basic and initial symptoms of various gynaecologist related problems".

We invited Dr Pranati Sinha once again and she first talked about the various common gynaecological problems, and took questions from the participants. Dr Sinha then had private meeting with the participants. The feedback from the participants is "very useful session - will help them to ensure healthy living".

Handing over of chairs to Alakendu Bodh Niketan Residential - Alakendu Bodh Niketan Residential is working to rehabilitate mentally challenged, speech defective and spastic boys and girls, young adults and elderly people through curative teaching and training. We are very happy to announce that we are now associated with the Alakendu Bodh Niketan Residential management and are now involved through participation with them.  
 
As a token of our support we have donated twenty chairs for the students of Alakendu Bodh Niketan Residential on February 14, 2017, Tuesday. 
 
 

Science in everyday life - We come across many incidents, which are taking place around us daily, and we take them for granted. We get so used to, that we seldom try to find out the science behind them. In the session "Science in everyday life", the speaker has explained in simple language why these phenomenon occur, for example, why we see lightning before hearing the sound of thunder, why ice cools better than cold water, why ripe fruits taste sweet, and many more such things. The session was interactive and the audience put forward many questions, which were discussed and answered. It was enjoyable and the feedback was positive. The session was taken by Let us join member,  Ms Chaitali De, on November 6, 2016, Sunday, from 5:30 PM at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064.

A session on Economic literacy by Smt Somava Paul - People like to think and talk about the economic issues that affect them as consumers, workers, producers, investors, citizens and in other roles they assume over a lifetime. This knowledge also gives people the tools for understanding their economic world and how to interpret events that will either directly or indirectly affect them. Smt Paul explained the basic concepts of Economics in a very simple manner. Session was held on September 4, 2016, Sunday from 6:00 pm at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064. It was attented by guests and members of Let us join. The session was very informative and interesting, and the audience found the session very useful.
 
 
Anasuya Roy Memorial Scholarship - One-time scholarship of Rs 1000.00 was handed over to five selected students of Begum Rokeya Smriti Balika Vidyalaya, CJ 335, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700091. The event was held on 12 July 2016, Tuesday, at the school.
 
The following students are the recipients of Anasuya Roy Memorial Scholarship for the year 2016:

(3) Ivy Halder of Class IX
(4) Pinky Khan of Class XI

A presentation on United Arab Emirates - Our aim is to involve and encourage young people to take part in our activities so that they develop an interest in community service and to serve people. As a part of this initiative we invited Abhishek Majumder of BE 36, who is currently living in Dubal where his father is located to take care of his professional commitments, to give a presentation to enlighten us about UAE. The event took place on July 5, 2016, Tuesday, from 7:00 PM at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064. 
 
The session was very informative and interesting, and the audience found the session very enlightening. The presentation took about one hour followed by a Q&A session. 
 
 
Financial aid for one exceptional young person - Chayan Biswas of Siliguri
 
Chayan Biswas did his schooling from Netaji High School, Siliguri. He did exceptionally well in his West Bengal Board Higher Secondary examination this year (2016). He scored 467 out of 500 in Humanities and his subject-wise marks are English 92, Bengali 90, Political Science 99, Social Science 94, History 92. He wants to study History Hons at Siliguri College, Siliguri. Chayan's mother sacrificed everything to ensure that Chayan gets proper education. She single handedly run the family with her little income. It is a story of exceptional hardship and struggle. Chayan approached us for financial assistance from Let us join, so that he can continue his education and fulfill his dreams. We have provided fund to Chayan to meet all his first year's college expenses for his graduation study at Siliguri College. He has taken admission at Siliguri College with History Honours. As a token of appreciation, we have handed over to him a Certificate of Appreciation for his accomplishments.

Event to acknowledge the achievements of Puja Majhi - Puja Majhi and her father Sri Uttam Majhi visited BE 224, Salt Lake City (the Let us join office) on 3rd of June 2016. The event was attended by many people including representatives from media house. We acknowledged the outstanding achievements of Puja Majhi, and thanked Sri Uttam Majhi for his sincere support to Puja Majhi to fulfill her dreams. Let us join team handed over to Puja Majhi the financial assistance for Puja's further education. The financial assistance will cover her College Admission fee, other fees related to admission process, her first year's (2016-2017) college tuition fees and fund for buying books, etc. necessary for her study.
 
 
Handing over of Financial aid to Jayanta Dutta Banik - the event held on July 3, 2016, Sunday, at 5:30 PM at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064.
 
Jayanta Dutta Banik is a newspaper delivery man by profession and he lives with his wife and two daughters. The elder daughter is doing BA in Arts and the second daughter has passed Class X board examination. In April 2014 he had to undergo a brain surgery at Bangalore, and is suffering from hearing loss and doctors suggested him to use Hearing Aid. We are happy to announce that we have extended financial support to Jayanta.
 
 
Oil colour painting exhibition of Sri Alak De - Oil colour painting exhibition of Sri Alak De was held at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064, on January 30 and January 31, 2016, from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm. We are very happy to inform you that lot of people visited the exhibition, including famous artists, renowned architect, doctors, business personnel, ex-Rotary President, and people from media.

A session with a physiotherapist - the session was taken by, Ms Manjima Chowdhury, a renowned physiotherapist. Ms Chowdhury discussed with the participants about their problems and demonstrated excerises for better living. The Q&A session was very interesting and benificial for the participants. The session, which was well attended by people of different age groups, was held at BE 224 Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064, on October 30, 2015, Friday. Click here to see pictures of the event.
 
A programme on Computer Literacy - programme aimed for the children of standard IX and above and is expected to give the participants the knowledge and the ability to utilize computers and related technology efficiently. Those who are already using computer and other applications that are associated with computers, this programme is aimed to increase the comfort level. The programme started on 22nd March 2015 and ended on 12th April 2015. The sessions held on Sundays at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064. An interactive session on the changes we have been witnessing over time - an interactive session on how the social changes during the past 80 years were reflected in Bengali cinema. The session was coordinated by Dr Sonali Roy and was attended by ladies of BE West. The participants interacted among each other and also with the coordinator. It was an enlightening session by Dr Sonali Roy, where the participants exchanged valuable knowledge with each other. Fundamentals of painting - a training program for the children of ages between 5 years and 14 years. The program started on October 26, 2014, and ended on December 21, 2014. A renowned artist took the sessions. On the last day of the session all participants were handed over Certificate of Participation by Sri Shyamal Baran Roy. A session on Photography tips and techniques - a renowned photographer took the session on Photography tips and techniques on Sunday, 30th November 2014. The event was held at BE 224, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064. Fifteen participants attended the session which was very interactive involving the participants as well as the speaker.
 
A session on Healthy Living - Session on Healthy Living was presented by renowned dietitian Smt Subarna Roy Chowdhury. It was an excellent, very informative and well presented session. The session was an eye opener for most of the participants and the participants felt the session will be very useful. Requests for more sessions on the same topic came up from many participants. A session with a gynaecologist - the main aim was to spread awareness about the basic and initial symptoms of various gynaecologist related problems. A session like this was considered important as the various Gynaecological problems, if not taken care of may lead to serious illness in the future.
Dr Pranati Sinha took the session where she had private meeting with each of the participants. The general feedback from the participants is "very useful session - there should be more such sessions". The session was held on January 18, 2015, Sunday, at BE 224 Salt Lake City.
